So between the two swords, you need 1.5 times the higher str and the higher dex requirement. Just the Greatsword, it got a huge buff over the course of the game (which it honestly didn't need). Also, I liked certain elements of the Pursuer's Greatsword, like the engraved design on the blade and that certain shininess that other ultra greatswords didn't have, so what I ended up doing was putting the blade design of the Pursuer's Greatsword onto the Black Knight's Ultra Greatsword, and gave the BK Ultra Greatsword the same shiny shiny ...While I don't necessarily disagree, I like the Pursuer's Ultra Greatsword more. For a straight strength-focused build, the Greatsword is probably the better choice though. Pursuer's requires 8 more in dex, and scales great with strength and decent with dex, while the regular Greatsword scales amazingly with strength and barely with dex. The Drangleic Sword can be snagged right after the Pursuer boss fight (though the 25/20 stat requirements are kinda high for early game). For ultras, you can snag the Greatsword in No Man's Wharf and the Pursuer's Ultra Greatsword from Straid. Oh, and the Royal Swordsmen in FotFG and the Bastille can drop the Royal Greatsword.
