Ok, while I was at the Easter Jeep Safari this year my engine started to randomly idle roughly. My engine normally idles around 675 rpm +/- about 25 rpm. Closed Loop just means that the O2 sensors are being monitored as an additional input to the fuel management system. Fault Codes about coolant temps & Closed Loop - dont mean that a specific temp is required to go Closed Loop ...yeah, the middle is a bit high for the 3.6L especially if you are driving. Coolant empties in 3-7 days, but temp gauge reads normal. Noticed yesterday that the jeep was running really hot, hot enough actually to make the idiot chime tell me to look at the gauges. When I started actually paying close attention to it the needle was staying at the third little hash mark on the gauge (so technical right). 2009 JK Heat Issues. My girlfriend has a 09 JK with "no heat". It will blow warm for about 2 seconds then its back to frigid and I'm not spending another PA winter freezing my ass off on the drive to work. I've done just about all I know how to do/google and am just frustrated. I checked the blend door actuator (temperature control switch) …Put new Mopar thermostat in, and the JK still runs at 220 on average. Took JK to my other mechanic. He did some research and found that drilling a 1/8" hole in thermostat will allow Jeep to run cooler. Decided to drill hole. The Jeep is still running hot. About 220. Took the JK back to the dealer.
