It mounts the same as the 196 that came in the bike and would work fine with a clutch setup. The only issue you may run into is the shaft size. Your 196 might have a 16mm shaft while the 212 is a 3/4". Some 196 engines do come with a 3/4" shaft. I have been running the stock 75 tooth rear sprocket but I want some more top end so I went with a 65 tooth. For whatever reason the 65 tooth sprocket with the same alignment and everything just will not work. The chain falls off at around 20 mph.
