The 9422 is being discontinued for exactly the same reasons the Remington Nylon 66 died. In 1959 Remington brought out the 66. They invested a lot of money in machinery to make it. That was no problem because the 66 sold like hotcakes and returned the investment in the equipment in short order. Usually, the more scarce the variation of a collectible item, the higher the premium is going to be. In my opinion, the Winchester model 9422 and the older models of the Marlin Golden 39A are two of the best .22 caliber lever action rifles ever made.
