I realize there is a calculation for your target superheat (eg. (IWB)*3-80-(OAT)/2=Target Superheat. However most units that I have come accross DO NOT specify the target subcooling (I speak of TXV/13 SEER units of course). I was wondering if anybody here knew of some calculation to determine this. This app can calculate a simple pressure/temperature relationship or calculate superheat/subcool temperatures. The user can input pressure or temperature (s) on any screen and the other values are automatically calculated and displayed. For refrigerant blends, both saturated vapor and saturated liquid values are displayed.

For those still using R22, understanding subcooling is crucial for getting the most out of your system before transitioning to a more eco-friendly option. R22 Subcooling Chart Understanding the Chart. Now, let’s talk about the subcooling chart R22. This handy chart helps you determine the optimal subcooling level for your system.values can still be changed and the superheat or subcool values will update. The thermocouple can be unplugged from the unit and the temperature reading will remain. To unfreeze the thermocouple temperature, press HOLD again or turn the unit off. To Change Units 1. With the Superheat/Subcool Calculator off, press the POWER button. 2.Temperature and you get a Subcooling of 15. “Typically” on TXV systems the Superheat will range between 8 to 28 degrees with a target of about 10 to 15 degrees. The Subcool range on TXV systems will range from about 8 to 20. Although this is not enough information to charge a system, it does give a technician a Similarly, when a substance drops below its saturation temperature, it is supercooled. Just as only gas can be superheated, only liquids and solids can be supercooled. So, if our boiling water source drops below 100 °C to 99 °C, we can say 1 °C subcooling. Subcooling provides an increase in cooling capacity without any change in energy ...

R-717 Ammonia Information. Ammonia, also known as R-717, is one of the oldest refrigerants. It’s origins as a refrigerant can be traced all the way back to the 1800’s and it was one of the first refrigerants used in a variety of applications. It is also widely considered one of the most efficient refrigerants available. The Subcool and Superheat calculator will do that for you. Achieve Subcool or Superheat Readings in 3 easy steps…. 1.) R-404A rose to prominence in the late 1990’s with the phasing out of CFC and HCFC refrigerants like R-12 and R-502. There had to be a replacement for the Ozone damaging refrigerants of the past and the successor was the HFC R-404A that we all know of today. 404A’s reign however was short lived.
